This weeks meeting was attended with ten members and two guests.
Debra Dingman announced that the Kiwanis Festival of Trees sponsorship was coming to a close and anyone wishing to participate should contact her asap. The event is scheduled for December 4th – 6th. Debra also announced the DDBA’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting Festival to be held on December 2nd from 4pm-8pm. Jane Heinrichs announced a T-Tap event scheduled for December 12 at the Veterans Hall at 1pm. Donny Everhart announced that the Fashion Makeover fund raiser may need to be rescheduled so stay tuned for updates.
Todd Holloway, our Speaker Chairperson, was not present so Donny announced that next weeks speaker would be Kelly Spadorcio from the Vacaville Reporter.
Suzanne Lorente, our Attendance Chairperson, announced that she was keeping everyone updated.
Cindy Bassi, our Referral Chairperson, announced that the was passing around the referral box and for everyone to check their business cards.
This week we had Debbie Cornfield scheduled to speak, but due to illness Jane Heinrichs took her place. Jane was introduced and she began with a brief history of herself and a history of T-Tap fitness program. She explained how Teresa Tapp developed the T-Tap system, a physical therapy approach to fitness without the use of weights, equipment or jumping. She explained that it is a system that is comprised of strength training, cardio, flexibility, core training and wellness building. She then asked for volunteers to assist her and our guest Debbie Connally joined Jane in a brief demonstration of the T-Tap workout. Debbie reported that it seemed very effective. Jane continued with a few more exercises then passed around some printed material while she showed some pages of before and after pictures of other T-Tap users. Many questions were asked and answered. Interest was very high.
Referral were shared and a brief announcement was made about meeting at the Firehouse Bistro next week and the meeting was adjourned.

This weeks meeting was attended by ten members and two guests.
Jill Orr announced the Epicurean Wine Festival to be held this Friday at the Dixon May Fairgrounds from 6pm-9pm. Suzanne Lorente announced a Holiday Fashion Makeover to be held on November 13th at the Vixen Fashion Boutique to raise money for the Dixon Teen Center. Debra Dingman announced the Holiday Open House to be held on November 21st and 22nd in Downtown Dixon. She also announced the Kiwanis were hold their annual Festival of Trees was coming up and they were looking for tree decorators and volunteers. Debbie Cornfield announced a fund raiser for the Dixon Teen Center to be held at Chevy’s on Thursday November 18th from 11am-10pm and 25% of the proceeds would go to the Teen Center.
Todd Holloway, our speaking committee chairperson, announced that Debbie Cornfield would speak next week and Kelly Spadorcio would speak the week after that.
Suzanne, our attendance chairperson, announced that she made a few calls this week and she also mentioned that when ever she meets someone now she asked if they are in business and if they are she invites them to the meetings. Today she invited a dog groomer she met today who said she would come next week.
Cindy Bassi, our referral chairperson, announced that a few referrals were made this week and she explained hoe the new card program works to the membership.
This weeks speaker was Teresa Schilling from Travis Credit Union. She introduced herself and passed out several handouts and explained a few new programs that are presently offered. She introduced the Ultimate Rewards Package and explained how to earn 7% on your first $500.00 in deposit. She also introduced the Youth Accounts program and how they can earn 7% on their first $500.00 in deposit. And finally she explained that by being a member of Travis Credit Union there were many benifits and one was a service called Achieve Balance which offered Money Management Counseling, debt Management and a credit report review. This program is designed to help improve your credit score and get your finances back on track.
Todd gave us words of Wisdom from WIB.
A brief announcement that next weeks meeting will again be at the Firehouse Bistro and the meeting was adjourned.

This week we had 13 members and two guest present at the meeting.
Donny Everhart announced that Dixon Financial and Insurances Services and Lorente Productions were working together on a fund raising event with Vixen Fashion Boutique to be held on November 13th from 10am-6pm. Carol Parker announced that the Epicurean Wine Event was looking for sponsors to contribute raffles prizes. Debbie Cornfield announced a fund raising event for the Teen Center to be held on November 5th. Jane Heinrichs announced that she was holding a T-Tap event on Dec 12th. James Slaughter announced that he was sponsoring an event to be held at the Air and Space Museum on November 4th from 5:30-8pm. Todd Holloway announced a new Grant Program which could pay up to 90% of OTJ for employers considering to hiring new employees.
Todd announced that he has put together a schedule for speakers at the meetings and he would release one month at a time. Teresa Schilling is scheduled for November 2nd, Debbie Cornfield is scheduled for November 9th and Kelly Spadorcio is scheduled for November 16th.
Suzanne Lorente mentioned that she was trying to keep in contact with dormant members reminding them of the Guidelines and their participation requirements.
Cindy Bassi just returned and was not prepared to report on referrals, so Donny reported that since we started recording referrals we have had 17 referrals.
Donny had past out a list of categories of businesses to each of the members to review for inviting guests to our meetings. Remember that only one person can represent a category, as to not have any competing members.
Steve Lorente from Lorente Productions was introduced as this weeks speaker. Steve passed out an agenda on the topic of Home Theater Design and What to Look Out For. He went on to explain some important points to be considered when planning a home theater. One of the most important point was that a building permit is required in most cases of installation of any electrical wiring. He also explained that home theater equipment is very delicate and needs to on its own circuit and breakers. Other home electrical devices can interfere and even damage the home theater components. He also spoke on the importance of creating an environment that will not be interfering with your neighbors. The lights, windows and even the paint color of the room all effect the quality of the system. He also explained on the proper way to determine the best size of the screen and position of the viewing chairs. Steve explained that one of the most important considerations that needs to be addressed before investing in your home theater is what are you going to be using it for. He explained that there are so many things to consider when making such a investment and it would be wise to consult an expert before investing your hard earned money.

Jane Heinrichs announced a T-Tap event scheduled for December 12th. James Slaughter announced a Bingo event at the Senior Center on Friday from 5:30-8pm. Donny Everhart announced the Chamber of Commerce’s Spooktacular to be held on October 30th. He also announced a fund raiser for the Teen center to be held at Dixon Fashion on November 13th. Debra Dingman announced that the Festival of Trees is looking for Tree Sponsors for their event.
Todd Holloway announced that Steve Lorente would be next week speaker. Teresa Schilling is scheduled for November 2nd, Debbie Cornfield is scheduled for November 9th and Kelly Spadorcio is scheduled for November 16th.
Donny mentioned that since we began recording the referral we have received 10 referrals, which generated approximatively $1500.00 worth of business. He also went on to explain the procedure of filling out the new referral cards.
Todd Holloway was introduced as this weeks speaker and he went on to introduce himself and the Workforce Investment Board. He went on to explain the Employer Services that are offered by the WIB. Recruitment Services is their way of helping employers determine their hiring needs and ways to go about the interview process. They also offer Human Resources Information to help employers provide safe hiring practices, retention issues, job analyses, performance testing and help with training existing employees. One of the big services they offer is On The Job Training or OJT. This program helps by offering a reimbursement of up to 50% of wages during the training process. Another service they offer is a Rapid Response and Closure Assistance making it an easier transition. Todd passed out several handouts including a calendar of event scheduled for October.

Todays meeting was attended by 10 members.
Todd Holloway announced that the WIB career fair was a success with 84 employers and over 2,000 job seekers. Debra Dingman announced that the Kiwanis are looking for volunteers to help with their Festival of Trees. She also announced that the DDBA’s Halloween Treat Trail is scheduled for October 29th and the Chamber of Commerce’s Spooktacular is scheduled for October 30th. James Slaughter announced the Epicurial Wine Festival is scheduled for November 5th at the fairgrounds and he was hosting a Bingo Night dinner on October 22nd.
In the category of ‘New Business’, Todd had nothing to announce for speakers. Suzanne had no reports on delinquent members and Cindy Bassi was not present to report on referrals. Donny Everhart reported that he had some updates on memberships and Suzanne made the necessary entries in her membership journal.
Rich Mason was introduced as this weeks speaker and he started out with an short history of his experience in electronics, then went on to discuss common problems associated with desktop computers. One of the most common issues are virus and malware programs which he explained are acquired from simply visiting website that offer banner ads. Due to the ease of inserting hidden code into banner ads malware is a common problem. He explained the many types of malware and the difference between a virus, which is design to destroy the computers files and a malware which is designed to search the computers files and report those finding to the malware writers. He also mention the latest trend in malware would collect user behavior and use this to easily copy the buying habits of the victim to allow fraudulent charges to go unnoticed. One of the best things that con be done to preserve your computer system is to create a full image backup while your system is running smoothly, this way you have a restore point in the event of infection. He concluded his talk with a question and answer session.
A brief announcement about next weeks meeting being at Mr. Taco was made. Suzanne had a question about the status of her representation of Free Life International as being in conflict with Kangen Water. After discussion from the group it seemed that no conflict was present between the two companies and it was proposed to continue the discussion when the Kangen Water representative was present. Donny also reported that he had new member prospects waiting for an opening in the group and that is is everyone’s responsibility to help the group grow by inviting a new member. He proposed that with the 30 second commercial a mention of a new member prospect be mentioned.
