November 16, 2010 Meeting Summary
This week was attended by 13 members including one new member.
Jane Heinrichs announced her upcoming T-Tap event on December 12 from 1 – 5pm at the Veterans Hall. She also announced that she has put together a facility where she can hold classes and has offered the first male student a free enrollment. Debra Dingman announced a Ribbon Cutting for the Dixon Patch to be held Thursday November 18th at 10am at the Dixon Chamber of Commerce. She also announced the Festival of Trees that the Kiwanis were holding on December 4th and 5th. Kathy King announced the Holiday Open House to be held Saturday and Sunday in Downtown Dixon and invited everyone to attend. Donny Everhart inquired about his sponsorship in the Dixon High School Newspaper. Suzanne Lorente announced that the Fashion Makeover event would be rescheduled until further notice.
Our Speaker Chairperson, Todd Holloway, announced that our upcoming speakers would be Debra Dingman next week, Suzanne Lorente on November 30th, Teresa Castanias on December 7th and Audra Sickinger on December 14th. Donny announced that we would be meeting at Veterans Hall next month.
Our Attendance Chairperson, Suzanne Lorente, announced that she was cleaning up the members directory and asked about updates and made some notations.
Our Referral Chairperson, Cindy Bassi, announced that she has passed around the Referral Box and reminded everyone to check their business cards.
This weeks speaker Kelly Spadorcio from Vacaville Reporter was introduced and she began by giving a brief history of her experience and then began to introduced some of the products that she has to offer in a few of advertising offers. She first passed out a sample of a full page ad from the Dixon Chamber Spotlight and explained how in this presentation several business could be featured as well as provide a central theme for an informational calendar. This listing could be produced in many different sizes depending on the requirements of the client.She also passed out the rate card for this listing. She then went on to passed out a booklet insert called ‘Around Town’ and explained the many different ads that could be placed in this format. This book is unique in that this offering stays with the end user for a longer period of time leaving your ad to be seen over a longer period of time as apposed to a newspaper listing which would last for a day. Donny questioned her about the DNA possibly advertising in one of these formats and Kelly thought that the ‘Around Town’ might be a good fit for what he had in mind. She said she would put together a proposal and get back to him. Several questions were asked and answered and Kelly was thanked for her nice presentation.
Todd offered his Words of Wisdom from the WIB in a quote from George Bernard Shaw. “The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can’t find them, make them.”
Referrals were shared and a brief announcement about next weeks meeting being at the Firehouse Bistro with Debra Dingman as our speaker. The meeting was adjourned and all were wished a prosperous week.
